“The music is our library, our philosophy, and our spiritual compass.” Mzee Tendere

Turningpoint Music & Lifestyle magazine has published an exclusive interview with Mzee Tendere, “The Songs They Could Not Silence,” in which he speaks about Lutsaga, Baobab Studios’ Mijikenda music archiving project. Mzee Tendere reflects on carrying ancestral knowledge into the present, the role of music in resistance, healing and community, and why fair pay and ownership of Master and Publishing Rights are essential to real preservation.
